Twelve Months of Lincoln

ONE Year

So Lincoln turned one (in February). We had a little partay for him. I didn't take any pictures of the decorations, but it was President Lincoln themed (since his birthday is the day before Abe Lincoln's). It was really fun to have all our new friends over to celebrate our baby!

I think Link got a little stage fright because this is the most action the cake saw all night

Poor cake. And poor us for not getting any face full of cake pictures.

Our awesome friends from Puerto Rico brought gifts for Lincoln AND Parker.

Five Months

Lincoln is now a rolling master. His favorite time to practice is when he's in bed and should be sleeping. Or is it because that's the only time he's put down all day long?? He's definitely getting to be a spoiled little thing and usually cries when he's set down. Lincoln is also a little grabber and will try to pick up anything that is within arms reach. Today he knocked a giant container of pretzels off the counter while he was sitting in his Bumbo. He's getting bigger (and cuter) everyday! We love you Lincoln!

Four Months

In all the packing/moving craziness I forgot to post Lincoln's 4 month pics! He's growing, growing, growing! At his 4 month appointment he measured in the 99th percentile for length. He is still such a sweetheart and gives anyone who will look at him a big gummy smile. We love our Lincoln!

Belly Laughs

Just took this video of Lincoln laughing at Parker. I think they're going to love being brothers.

Three Months

Lincoln is growing, growing, growing! He loves to smile and talk at anyone who will look at him. He just started laughing the other day--adorable! We love our little Lincoln!

Two Months

Lincoln went to the doctor today and he's grown (duh)! He weighs 11 lbs 14 oz (60 something percentile) and is in the 96th percentile for height! The doctor was very impressed with how well he was holding his head up and said he was doing it as well as a four month old. Go Lincoln!

Lincoln is such a sweet little guy. He loves to smile and coo at anyone who will look at him. He's sleeping great, eating great, and is just perfect. We feel so blessed to have him in our family. None of us can get enough of him.

My friend Bridget had a great idea to compare Parker's pictures from the same age, so here's Parker when he was two months old! Do you think they look alike?

Lincoln's Blessing

A few weekends ago we were able to bless our little Lincoln. So many of our family came into town to participate and support us, it was so wonderful, and we were so thankful to have them here with us.

We had a little photo shoot with Lincoln after the blessing. He's beautiful if I say so myself (and I do).

One Month (a little late)

Please somebody slow down time!

Mom's Visit

I thought I would post the rest of the pictures from when my mom was here. It was so wonderful to have her here and I was really sad to see her go so soon.

In between her making delicious dinner every night, doing all my laundry, and baking brownie cheesecake (which I'm pretty sure I ate more than half of)...

she found time to entertain Parker too! One morning they had fun building and playing in a fort

She snapped some cute pictures when they were out on a walk one day.

We miss you Grandma!

Best News!!

The best news of all was the arrival of our sweet new baby boy. Lincoln Alan Schmidt was born on February 11th at 4:10 pm.

How about a little birth story?

I went in to be induced at 7:00 am on February 11th. I was given some sort of tablet to get me all ready for labor at about 9:00. At 1:00 I was started on pitocin and the doc came and broke my water. Things definitely picked up after that! It wasn't long before I started having contractions. I can't remember how long after, but eventually I called for an epidural and all was good with the world again! :)

After a bit I thought I would get comfortable and take a nap for a until it was time to have a baby! As I was settling down, I started to feel a little funny and uncomfortable. I thought maybe I was just feeling some contractions, but the longer I sat there the more pressure I was feeling. I asked my mom to go get the nurse to check me just in case. When she came in we could tell nurse Julie thought I was being silly and there was no way I was even close to ready. And when she checked I was only a 6. While she was in the room, though, I guess she noticed something on my monitors because she got a concerned look on her face, gave me an oxygen mask, and told us she was going to get her charge nurse. Out in the hall I heard "O.R." and was praying they weren't referring to me. All of the sudden nurse Julie and the charge nurse came in started unhooking me, told me the baby's heart rate was dropping and they were going to take me to the operating room in case it didn't come back up and they needed to do a c-section. NO!!!

Thankfully my doc came in said hold on a sec, everything's fine! The babe's heartrate was already coming back up. Then he checked me and I was at a 9!! Take that nurse Julie! We were going to have a baby! The reason I felt uncomfortable was because the baby was descending like crazy all of the sudden (also the reason his heart rate dropped for a bit).

This is me as the nurses were prepping everything for the delivery.

Then it was time to push! I pushed through 4 or 5 contractions (about 12 times) and he was here! It was fast and crazy and awesome.

Here's our beautiful Lincoln. He weighed 7 lbs 15 oz and was 20 1/2 inches long (just like his brother!)

Parker meeting his baby brother for the first time! :)

We are all absolutely thrilled (even Parker). Lincoln is such a great baby. He eats great and sleeps even better. Unlike Parker, he doesn't look EXACTLY like Sam, so I can claim this one. He even has a little dimple! Parker already loves him and is constantly oohing and ahhing over him, and loves to hold him and give him kisses.

Heavenly Father has blessed us immensely in the past couple weeks, and we are humbled by all that we have been given, especially this sweet little man.
